Altona’s Somers Parade Kindergarten has exceeded national standards in all quality areas of child education and care.
The kindergarten has been serving the community for more than 50 years, and was recently assessed by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority which found it was exceeding the National Quality Standard (NQS).
The NQS is the national benchmark for the quality of children’s education and care services across Australia.
Somers Parade nominated supervisor Liz Ryan said the team at the centre was pleased to be recognised so highly.
“This rating is achieved by services that go above and beyond the requirements of the NQS in at least four of the seven quality areas,” she said.
“Somers Parade Kindergarten rated Exceeding in all seven assessable areas, including the educational program, environment and community involvement.
“We believe our rating owes much to the passion and dedication of our teachers and educators who have been working together for over a decade.”
The kindergarten offers popular learning experiences for children such as bush and beach kinder, and local outings to community areas.
“We embrace and involve parents in these activities,” Ms Ryan said.
“Together we provide the ideal bridge from home to school.”
