Knitters provide warm-hearted relief

Footscray’s close-knit community is making a warm-hearted donation to some of the area’s newest arrivals.

Participants in the weekly Wednesday knitting sessions at Footscray library have been creating a wealth of winter wear to donate to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre’s winter appeal.

The women in the sessions hail from a number of different cultural backgrounds and are united by the universal language of knitting.

New members are welcome to join the Footscray session or other sessions held at Braybrook, Yarraville and Maribyrnong library branches.
