Hobsons Bay residents who drive Toyota LandCruisers are being warned to take extra care by police, following a spike in the number of thefts of the vehicle in the local area.
Police say LandCruiser thefts have been reported across multiple suburbs in Hobsons Bay.
It’s believed thieves are specifically targeting LandCruisers due to their high resale value and off-road capability.
Owners of the popular SUV are advised to always lock their vehicle, even if stepping away briefly, and to park in well-lit areas or secure garages.
They should also consider using steering wheel locks or vehicle immobilisers, avoid leaving their keys near front doors or easily accessible places and be alert to suspicious activity.
Anyone who sees anything unusual should contact triple-0 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
