Residents of Bunbury Street in Footscray are calling for the return of a “local landmark”.
A statue of a discus thrower had been displayed in the garden of two residents on Bunbury Street for a few months.
The statue was purchased from BiGfiSh workshop.
The discus thrower was found to be missing on Monday, May 17.
Resident Leanne Hallowell says she misses seeing the discus thrower on her way to and from the train station each day.
“It always brings a smile to my face,” she said.
Footscray Riverside Action Group member Elwyn Davies lives near the river, close to where the statue was located.
Mr Davies said: “We want him back where he belongs!”
Mr Davies told Star Weekly the statue’s disappearance has made many in the area upset.
“It’s a local landmark… we all smile when we see it,” he said.
“We’d love to get him back.
“We miss him.”
