Laverton parks upgrade

Community members are being invited to have their say on designs for three Laverton park upgrades.

As part of the Love Laverton Parks project, Hobsons Bay council is improving Henderson Street Reserve, Bladin Street Reserve and Cropley Crescent Reserve.

Five other Laverton parks have been earmarked for future upgrades: Frank Gibson Reserve, Dick Murdoch Reserve, Whittaker Avenue Reserve, Beverly Anton Reserve and Bruce Street Reserve

The three current upgrades are being fast-tracked to happen simultaneously and create spaces for all ages and abilities.

The council plans to upgrade existing facilities, add new landscaping and improve pedestrian and cycling connections to create a network of open spaces.

Wetlands Ward councillor Diana Grima urged people to have their say.

“Safe and inviting neighbourhood parks are essential to the wellbeing of a community,” she said.

“Council is keen to hear people’s thoughts on the concept designs for the latest three parks in the Love Laverton Parks project.”

Residents and park users can view the concept plans and have their say before Wednesday, August 25 at participate.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/lovelavertonparks.

A draft master plan for McCormack Park is out for separate consultation until Sunday, August 22 at participate.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/mccormack.

A program to provide safe links for pedestrians and cyclists in Maher Road and Railway Avenue is out for public feedback until Sunday, August 29 at participate.hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au/connecting-laverton.
