Bright lights, fireworks and community fun is set to take over West Footscray, as part of Diwali celebrations.
Also known as the Festival of Lights, event co-ordinator Pradeep Tiwari said the festival will be returning at Footscray Park on Saturday, October 15 from 4pm to 9.30pm after COVID-19 restrictions.
“We are quite ecstatic to be hosting the festival in the prestigious Footscray Park after two years,” he said.
“The people missed one the most multicultural festivals in the west where all come together to enjoy the festivities.”
Presented by the West Footscray Traders Association with support from Maribyrnong council’s Festival City grants program, the event will include colourful fireworks, multicultural stage performances, market stalls, food trucks and carnival rides.
Performances will include Bollywood and Bhangra dancers, Vietnamese and Bosnian dance groups, a children’s dance group, an African drummers workshop, Brazilian samba dancers, an LED light show, fire twirlers, live music and DJ music.
