The Salvation Army Hobsons Bay is hosting its weekly Wednesday community lunch, but with a Christmas twist.
Lieutenant Star Conliffe said anyone from the Hobsons Bay area is welcome to come on Wednesday, December 20.
“Anyone is welcome to come any Wednesday for lunch, it is not just about the food, it is all about social isolation,” she said.
“We have a lot of regulars who come but also people who pop by for assistance, they are always invited to join and they often will join us for a hot meal.”
Ms Conliffe said the volunteers are able to put on the special lunch with donations from Rotary Altona and Tamil Girls Point Cook.
“We will be using that to pay for everything, we will be cooking a Christmas roast and pudding,” she said.
“We will have our local Salvos, local carols group, brass band and piano player providing music as well as some games on the day.”
Ms Conliffe said they are expecting more than 50 people to come on the day and share in the Christmas spirit.
“We know that not everyone has a festive event to go to, so this is open to anyone who would like to come and experience some Christmas cheer.
“We are going to have some community volunteers helping but it is mostly the local salvos who will be doing all of the cooking.”
Those interested in attending the lunch at the Altona Corps site can call reception.
