A Maidstone boy has been arrested in relation to a brawl and the alleged assault of a police officer in St Kilda yesterday.
Police said the 17-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and will face court at a later date with charges relating to affray, aggravated assault and assault of a police officer.
Emergency services were called to reports of a fight between two groups of youths about 5.30pm.
When police attempted to intervene, one officer was assaulted, sustaining minor injuries, police said in a statement.
Police have been told the brawl occurred after another fight involving five people, including two people armed with batons.
