Man charged with armed robberies in Melbourne’s west

A man has been charged with robbing stores at gunpoint in Altona, Altona North and Hoppers Crossing.

A 39-year-old Werribee man was arrested in Altona on Thursday morning.

He is alleged to have held up a bottle shop in Somers Parade, Altona, about 2.45pm on Wednesday.

Police allege the man robbed a convenience store in Blackshaws Road, Altona North, about 8.15pm the same day.

He is also charged with robbing a store in a shopping complex on Warringa Crescent, Hoppers Crossing, about 10.45am Thursday.

The man will face the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
