Man wanted over attack on West Footscray postman

Police have released a facial composite image of a man wanted over the bashing robbery of a postman in West Footscray.

The postman was delivering mail on a pushbike on Soudan Street just before 1.10pm on Thursday, December 1 when he was approached by the attacker.

The man asked for directions before punching the postman in the face and knocking him off the pushbike.

While the postman was on the ground, the offender stole his phone and several other items.

The offender fled north along Soudan Street to a vehicle waiting for him, believed to be a grey or silver Honda CRV with partial registration of XXM.

The vehicle was last seen heading north on Soudan Street towards Suffolk Street.

The victim, who is aged in his 50s, sustained facial injuries as a result of the assault.

The offender is described as being of European appearance, about 193cm tall with a muscular build and tanned skin.

He also had a distinctive crescent moon and star tattoo on his right arm.

At the time of the incident he was wearing shorts and a fluorescent vest.

Police have released a facial composite of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries and an image of a vehicle with likeness to the one involved in the incident.
