The new 2022 Local Government Mayoral Advisory Panel has been named, featuring a mayor from Melbourne’s west.

Local Government Minister Shaun Leane made the announcement on April 22, with 10 members from across the state selected to feature on the panel.

Maribyrnong mayor Anthony Tran is among those selected who will meet with Mr Leane four times this year, with this year’s focus being on COVID-19 recovery, gender equality, and strengthening relationships with First Nations Victorians.

Mr Leane said the panel will provide feedback and advice on a range of important legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy based issues that affect communities across Victoria.

“The mayors on the 2022 panel will be able to share their ideas and initiatives to build a stronger local government sector,” he said.

Other members of the 2022 panel include lord mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp, Northern Grampians Shire mayor Tony Driscoll and Moonee Valley mayor Samantha Byrne.

The panel will meet for the first time on Wednesday April 27, 2022.
