Vaccination rates in Maribyrnong continue to plateau as other local government areas (LGA) in Victoria surpass the 90 per cent double dose target.

Maribyrnong’s double dosed vaccination rate currently sits at 82.1 per cent, up by only 0.9 per cent from last week.

The LGA’s vaccination rates have remained stagnant the past few weeks, and the city is lagging behind surrounding LGAs in the west who are on the cusp of, or have surpassed, the 90 per cent target.

As of this week, Moonee Valley has reached 87.3 per cent, and Brimbank has 88.4 per cent of its residents fully inoculated.

Wyndham and Melton have both exceeded the 90 percent double dosed target, having more than 95 per cent of residents double dosed.

Mayor Anthony Tran said that while the council is aware Maribyrnong is lagging behind in comparison to other LGA’s, vaccination rates do continue to increase in the city.

“Our community is showing its strength in coming together to protect themselves and each other in being vaccinated against COVID-19 and council is working closely with community leaders and authorities to support opportunities for our residents to ‘get their jab done’ locally and easily,” he said.

Additional pop-up clinics are planned for Braybrook Community Hub on Thursday, December 16, 9.00am – noon, and Footscray Library carpark from Wednesday, December 1, 10.30am – 3.30pm.

Both are walk-in and don’t require a booking.
