Motorists are being warned to take care on the road and avoid driving into floodwaters after a luxury sports car became stranded in a flooded underpass in Footscray.
Police were called to Victoria Street when the northbound Maserati became stuck while attempting to pass through water pooled beneath the railway overpass at Middle Footscray station around 5pm on Saturday.
The incident came after hours of heavy rain lashed Melbourne, filling drains and flooding roads.
The Victoria Street underpass is a notorious flooding zone in any episodes of heavy rain.
Despite the Maserati logo being based on the trident held by Neptune, the god of freshwater, the car appears not to have been able to float, quickly filling as waters continued to rise.
