Children are flocking to a pop-up playground in Footscray’s Maddern Square, dubbed Mini Maddern.
Hundreds of local children helped build the play space with supplied materials under the guidance of Public Realm Lab, a Footscray-based group of architects and urban designers.
The playground is assembled from loose items including tyres, barrels, milk crates and pipes and sand.
Victoria University early childhood students and staff will be running a series of drop-in craft sessions and fun exercises in the play space until Friday, June 26.
Regular updates will be posted @minimaddern on Instagram, with a closing party planned for June 26-27.
The playground is part of the Footscray University Town initiative, a partnership between Maribyrnong council and Victoria University.
