Roads and Road Safety Minister Melissa Horne has announced a speed reduction on Moore Street to 40km/h.

The change has followed on from a meeting between Ms Horne, Footscray MP Katie Hall, members of the Footscray Community Truck Action Group, a group of Moore St residents, with advocates against excessive truck traffic putting forward a 10-point plan to reduce the impacts of trucks on Footscray’s streets.

Ms Horne said Ms Hall should be commended for her work with Footscray residents and should be proud of what she has achieved.

“It was a terrific meeting,” she said.

“As soon as we had that meeting, I asked VicRoads to go out there and look at that speed limit.

“I’m really pleased to say that the maximum speed that anyone, any truck, any person, will be able to travel on that road is going to be 40 kilometres an hour.”
