Victorian Women, including those in Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay will have the chance to pursue an automotive career through a new training partnership with Chisholm TAFE and local industry.
Participants involved in the Accelerating Women into Automotive initiative will undertake a four-week introduction to learn to be technicians, panel beaters, spray painters and more.
They also receive work experience, training and assistance in starting an apprenticeship.
“There are so many rewarding careers available across the automotive industry, and we want more Victorian women to get involved, which is why the Andrews Labor Government is funding this program.” Werribee MP Tim Pallas said.
“We have made a record investment in TAFE and training to ensure all Victorians get the skills they need for in-demand jobs across the state – building a pipeline of skilled workers now and into the future.”
The state government invested more than half a million dollars into the program, which is part of the Women in Trades fund aimed at removing barriers faced by women wanting careers in traditionally male-dominated trades.
