Movie goers can enjoy their favourite films with the Melbourne skyline as a perfect backdrop.

In partnership with Seaworks and The Pirates Tavern, Sun Theatre is again running the Sun Cinema Williamstown throughout summer.

Upcoming screenings include Minions: The Rise of Gru, Avatar: The Way of Water, Bullet Train and The Banshees of Inisherin.

Sun Theatre Yarraville general manager Michael Smith said they love the opportunity to show movies outdoors and make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

“This is the third year that we’ve run this,” he said.

“Before we opened in Yarraville, we ran an outdoor cinema out the front.

“It’s great to have a permanent home in Williamstown.”

Mr Smith said while many locals are aware of Seaworks, for many others, it is an unknown gem waiting to be discovered.

He said the movies, which have already started, attract between 50 and 200 people, while they also have private functions.

The outdoor cinema runs throughout January, with a special screening of Across the Universe on February 14 for Valentine’s Day.
