A group of Maribyrnong children have been busy designing the ultimate instrument or ‘kidstrument’ as part of a school holiday program.

Playable Streets artists Glen Walton and Edwina Atkins guided participants to develop the ultimate instrument, through music making, drawing design and technology.

Workshops included sessions at Footscray Library, West Footscray Library and Braybrook Library.

The school holiday workshops will lead in to the Kidstruments LIVE! concert, which is a collaboration between Maribyrnong council, the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the Melbourne Jazz Festival and Playable Streets and will take place on Sunday, October 16 at the Footscray Library forecourt from 11am to noon.

The free concert will see jazz ensemble I Hold the Lion’s Paw performing with three real-life versions of the ‘kidstruments’ selected from the online gallery.
