Neon dogs light up Williamstown

The Neon Dog Park installation featured at White Nights in Melbourne and Ballarat will light up Williamstown for 10 nights.

Melbourne artist Carla O’Brien created the eight individual neon artworks featuring dogs and puppies of different breeds and sizes.

She got switched on to light art after visiting the Burning Man festival in Nevada in 2009.

“The neon dogs each have their own personality and people will interact with them,” she said.

Hobsons Bay mayor Angela Altair said the free art installation would be a huge drawcard.

“During the first week of the school holidays, take pride in Hobsons Bay’s new playful additions and bring your children and furry friends to pose with these beautiful, fun and cheeky works of art,” she said.

The installation will open at Commonwealth Reserve on June 29 with a DJ performance in the rotunda and other special activities. The artworks will be on show at the reserve from 4-10pm each night.

The community is being invited to post photos on social media with the hashtag #WaterfrontWilliamstown.
