New Footscray Hospital updates

Progress is being made on the Footscray Hospital development, due to be completed in December.

Preparation for works on the pedestrian footbridge have commenced marking the next stage of the Footscray Hospital development.

The new hospital will link to Victoria University’s Footscray Park Campus via a public pedestrian footbridge across Ballarat Road.

Hoarding will be installed on the Victoria University campus side of Ballarat Road east of Hoadley Court.

Trucks will enter the work zone from the corner of Hoadley Court and Ballarat Road and exit at Ballarat Road.

Hoarding installation will take approximately three weeks with civil works to follow.

Other recent developments on the Victoria University Building, Tiernan Street commercial building and five-storey Federal Street car park have all reached structural completion or ‘topped out’.

Facade installation on the main hospital building which will be the inpatient unit has begun.

Power, water and sewer connections are now complete and the final transfer slabs for the project have been poured.

Relevant authorities continue to work within the site and on neighbouring streets to upgrade the surrounding utilities for the new hospital.

Scaffolding has been removed, providing a view of the 13-metre high architectural v-columns which will frame the entrance to the emergency department.

The main hospital building tower has reached nine levels of the planned 12, and the sub-acute building has reached level four of five levels.
