Laverton and Seabrook residents are invited to come along and celebrate the launch of two more Council+ centres.

Hobsons Bay council’s Council+ centres allow residents to do all their council-related business in one place, including paying their rates, upsizing their bins, applying for permits and more.

The Laverton Community Hub and Seabrook Community Centre will join the Altona North Community Library, Hobsons Bay Civic Centre and Williamstown Library in becoming Council+ sites.

The Seabrook Community Centre will celebrate Cultural Diversity Week and the launch of the Council+ site from 1pm to 4.45pm on Thursday, March 16.

The event will include book giveaways, a story time session, an afternoon tea and an Earth Children Clay workshop.

Council will then celebrate the launch of Laverton Community Hub’s Council+ centre from 11.30am to 3pm on Saturday, March 18.

The event will also coincide with a celebration of Global Recycling Day, with the event including a special workshop and performance from arts organisation Trash Puppets, tree giveaways, face painting and a food truck.

Hobsons Bay mayor Tony Briffa said the council is “so pleased” to include the Laverton and Seabrook community centres within the Council+ program.

“Our Council+ sites are making it so much easier for our residents to connect with their Council. Instead of having to go into the Civic Centre to do their council business, they’re able to do it much closer to home,” Cr Briffa said.

“I’m sure local residents will see the benefits of having a Council+ site in their area.”
