Hobsons Bay council is preparing to open the updated Blenheim Road Reserve community park.

The key features of the new reserve facilities include an entry plaza with rain garden plantings and trees, two picnic areas, a sand pit, a climbing tower with climbing walls, two slides and a viewing platform, a forest walk along a tree-lined avenue, a meditation space and a unisex toilet facility.

The council is hosting a family-friendly event on Sunday, December 11 from 10am to noon, including face painting, coffee, finger food, free plant giveaways and ice cream vans.

The Newport West space hosts nature trees, shrubs and groundcovers, as well as water features.

Hobsons Bay mayor Tony Briffa said she is looking forward to welcoming community members to celebrate the launch of the new community park facilities.

“This beautiful new park will be a great space for local residents and visitors to meet, share a picnic, enjoy the new play equipment and climbing tower, go for walks or simply enjoy some quiet reflection time,” she said.

“It’s a unique space that really complements the neighbouring open spaces in the area at Loft Reserve and the broader Paisley Park precinct. I’m sure it will become a popular spot for locals, particularly over the upcoming summer months.”
