One of Williamstown’s most significant heritage properties is for sale and is expected to fetch more than $6.5 million.
The house at 89 Esplanade, an Edwardian villa named ‘Berean’, was built in 1911 and is one of three historic buildings in that strip.
Compton Green Real Estate managing director Adrian Butera said the house last sold for more than $4.5million eight years ago, when it was bought by a prominent western suburbs business owner.
Mr Butera said prestige and high-end homes in Williamstown usually attracted local buyers.
“We seldom see people coming from the other side of the bridge to buy the prestige homes in Williamstown,” he said.
“They are usually Williamstown people who have grown in success, grown in wealth, who want to keep climbing that property ladder in Williamstown.”
Mr Butera said the home, on one of Williamstown’s biggest blocks at just over 1350 square metres, was being sold by expressions of interest.
“I expect it to attract someone who will want to keep it as it is,” he said.
“It’s been fully renovated since our current owners purchased the property, so all the hard work’s done.
“I imagine it will be an executive home for someone wanting that premier location.”
Mr Butera said some of the highlights included a front-facing kitchen, formal lounge and formal dining room that seats up to 16.
The house has four bedrooms, a study, a billiard and theatre room, gymnasium, six bathrooms and a double lock-up garage.
Inspections start this week. Expressions of interest close at 4pm on May 13.
