Property developer Mirvac is opening one of its ‘Future Ready Display Homes’ to the Altona North community, as part of its $350 million housing development The Fabric.

The ‘Future Ready Display Home’ will be open to the public from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, December 3.

Located at 188-198 Blackshaws Road, more than 60 residents across 30 homes already live at The Fabric, which would home about 1500 residents across more than 500 two, three and four-bedroom townhomes and future mid-rise apartments.

The 11.5-hectare community contains landscaped public and private garden spaces, with the newly opened 4000 square metre Patchwork Park in its centre.

The 155 square metre display home features sustainable furniture, applicances, bedding, beauty and personal care from more than 16 Australian brands.

Mirvac residential Victoria general manager Elysa Anderson said they hope the home will give visitors with a look into the future benefits of sustainable living.

“Mirvac is at the forefront of driving change in housing sustainability initiatives and we understand that home efficiency is more important than ever to homeowners,” she said.

“The Future Ready Display Home is part of our long-term goal to improve our residents’ lifestyle by reducing their energy bills and environmental impact.

“Our partnerships with this amazing group of Australia’s most innovative sustainable consumer brands will allow us to collectively connect with and educate our community on how sustainable products can positively impact their daily lives.”

The home is designed to use 27 per cent less energy annually to heat and cool compared to a standard Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme six-star rated home, including rooftop solar panels and fully electric energy-efficient appliances.

The open house event will also include handball competitions with AFLW Western Bulldogs players, a selection of free food and beverages, an outdoor lounge area, childrens’ activities including arts and crafts, outdoor games and face painting.
