Over 150 reasons to smile

Community Bank Altona and Laverton recently celebrated a WynBay L2P Program’s Milestone, which has improved the lives of local youth and their families.

Leaving a profound impact on Altona, Laverton, Wyndham, and the surrounding communities.

The Community Bank Altona and Laverton said they are delighted to announce their unwavering commitment to the WynBay L2P Program.

The L2P Program, which stands for ‘Learner 2 Probationary’, is a non-profit initiative dedicated to empowering disadvantaged and at-risk youth by providing them with the essential driving skills and experience required to obtain their probationary driver’s licenses.

This accomplishment represents a remarkable milestone for these young individuals, opening doors to new opportunities in employment, education, and personal growth.

In 2017 the bank made an initial investment of $30,000 toward the purchase of L2P’s first two vehicles.

Since then, the program has thrived resulting in WynBay’s fleet growing to a total of five vehicles.

This year, the bank has made a further contribution of $34,000, facilitating the acquisition of two brand new vehicles.

As of June 30th, 2023, the program has successfully assisted 154 young people in obtaining their licenses across the Hobsons Bay and Wyndham region.

This impact extends beyond the learners themselves, as it also alleviates the burdens on their families.

By enabling these young individuals to secure their driver’s licenses, access to education, employment, and essential services becomes more accessible.

The Community Bank acknowledges the life-changing impact it has on the youth of the western suburbs of Melbourne.

Through its generous financial contributions and ongoing support, the Community Bank said it is actively investing in the future of the communities youth.

Henry Da Silva, Chairperson at Community Bank Altona and Laverton Henry Da Silva said, “We are absolutely thrilled to support the WynBay L2P Program.”

“Our donation reflects our deep commitment to the well- being of the local community.”

L2P Project Coordinator Naheed Akhtar, expressed gratitude for the partnership.

“The support from the Community Bank will enable us to make a profound difference in the lives of countless young people in our community,” Naheed said.

“We are excited about the positive change this partnership will bring and the brighter futures it will create.”
