Paid parking reintroduced for Footscray

Paid parking will be reintroduced in three off street carparks in Footscray from Monday, May 24.

Maribyrnong council today announced parking meters at Irving Street, Paisley Street and Picket Street carparks will be switched back on to increase parking turnover and meet demand at each site. There will be a two week grace period.

This will be the first time since 2015 parking meters have been switched on in the area.

The council were going to reintroduce paid parking from June 24, 2019, however severe public backlash led to the meters indefinitely being switched off.

Tickets will be $2.30 per hour, with money going back to the community via the council’s budget.

There is a cashless option via a mobile app, EasyPark.
