Victoria Police have put the call out for witnesses or those with dashcam footage of a collision in Altona North on Wednesday, October 5 to come forward.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said it has been alleged a black 2012 Toyota Prado was travelling outbound along the Princes Freeway near the Western Ring Road at around 5.30pm when the driver failed to slow down for the peak traffic and collided with a number of other vehicles, causing extensive damage.
“It’s believed the Prado continued at speed over the wire safety barrier in the median strip and travelled another 250 metres, crashing into a number of trees and shrubs before coming to a stop on its side,” the spokesperson said.
“Passers-by helped the driver from the vehicle.
“The 33-year-old Rockbank man, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken to hospital for assessment.”
The spokesperson said police would interview the man at a later date and no one was injured during the incident.
Victoria Police has urged anyone who witnessed the collisions, saw the Prado prior to the incident or with dashcam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
