An online foodie magazine is giving Hobsons Bay locals and the wider community a peek behind the scenes of the area’s most popular restaurants and cafes.

Open Kitchen is an online cookbook shining a spotlight on eateries in the Hobsons Bay area.

The video series aims to rekindle the relationship between the community and local restaurants.

Each video interviews the owner and head chef of a restaurant, as well as a brief walkthrough of a recipe.

The written recipe is then posted online.

Episode one features Oye Bombay, an Indian restaurant in Altona.

Oye Bombay’s owner and head chef Sarin said he enjoyed being a part of the series.

“Open Kitchen approached me as they were intrigued with our social media images of the dishes we present to our customers,” he said.

“They wanted to know more about an Indian kitchen operation, who we cater to, where we purchase our local ingredients.

“I hope that through the series, local businesses shall be supported by the community, council and will help each other grow, especially now in this tough phase wherein every cent helps.”

Open Kitchen is one of the local projects who received a grant from the Hobsons Bay council’s Hobson Bay business has heart program.

The program offered groups of three or more business grants of up to $15,000 to deliver projects with the aim of getting residents back to local businesses.
