A five-year photographic project charting the changing face of Footscray is coming to a close.

The ‘f5: Footscray in Transition’ project has involved five photographers capturing the fast-paced urban, environmental, social and cultural changes in Footscray since 2011.

Each year a new photographer chosen by Maribyrnong City Council has interpreted 10 familiar landmarks in Footscray including the Nicholson Street Bridge, Footscray Station, Little Saigon and Nicholson Street Mall.

Photographers Karenne Rees, Grant Hobson, Pierre Vairo, James Voller and now Yarraville’s Kip Scott have each put their own creative touch on the project.

An exhibition at Footscray Community Arts Centre this week will feature 11 large photographic prints and a three-minute video by Scott, along with two photos from each of the previous project artists.

The show opens 6-8pm Thursday and closes June 11. An artist conversation will be held 2-3.30pm Saturday, June 4. The council will also publish a 60-page colour catalogue, comprising works and statements by each artist.
