Property developers Stockland has officially opened a new green space for Altona North residents as part of a new mixed-use precinct

Stockland representatives and Hobsons Bay mayor Peter Hemphill were on hand on Monday, July 11 to officially open the new park and playground within Haven, Stockland’s medium-density community in Melbourne’s inner-west.

Set across 4000 square metres, the park includes a playground designed for four to 10-year-olds, a picnic shelter and barbeque facilities and bike racks, as well as an open grass area for entertainment and play.

Stockland General manager for communities David Allington said it was a privilege to join together with Hobsons Bay council on the project.

“The opening of the central park and playground coincides with the first handful of residents moving into their new homes,” he said.

“In addition to the park, current and future residents will come to enjoy a community with walkable, landscaped streets that will lead them to a future planned town centre, community centre and commercial area.”

Hobsons Bay mayor Peter Hemphill said the park and playground opening was another step towards the completion of the development.

“With Central Park and the surrounding townhomes, it is wonderful to see this new residential neighbourhood take shape meeting the high design and liveability standards expected of Melbourne’s urban renewal projects,” he said.

“In line with the comprehensive development plan developed jointly by state and local government, we are on track to creating a high-quality residential precinct that provides housing choice, and easy walking access to local shops and services.”

Stockland launched Haven to potential homebuyers virtually in October 2020. Featuring 289 two-, three- and four-bedroom townhomes.

The $225 million medium density community features 289 townhomes.
