Police appeal for assistance after a car was stolen in Footscray

Police are appealing for public assistance following the theft of a car in Footscray.

Police have been told a red 2018 Mazda sedan was parked in Whitehall Street, Footscray on Tuesday, January 18.

Sometime between 7.30pm on January 18 and 3am January 19, the vehicle was stolen.

A credit card, which was left in the vehicle, was then used to purchase food and drinks at fast food and convenience stores in Niddrie and Melbourne CBD.

The car was later recovered in Coburg on Monday, January 31.
