Police appeal for witnesses following a Footscray drowning

Police are appealing for witnesses after a toddler drowned in Footscray earlier this year.

The three-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a pond at Footscray Park, south of the main adventure playground, shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, June 30.

The young girl was taken to hospital but died on July 5.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner but are not treating the death as suspicious.

Investigators are looking to speak with a woman who may have seen the child leaving the playground between 2.30-2.45pm.

The toddler was Middle Eastern in appearance, with dark hair and was wearing a khaki-coloured jacket.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
