Police hunt driver after West Footscray hit-run

Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene following a hit-run collision that broke a women’s leg in West Footscray on Saturday night.

Police have been told a 40-year-old woman was crossing Barkly Street near Summerhill Road about 10.10pm.

She was struck by a vehicle travelling west on Barkly Street, leaving her with a broken leg.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and drove away from the scene.

A passing motorist, who did not witness the incident, stopped to assist the woman.

She was taken to hospital, where she remains.

 

Police believe a number of people may have been in the area at the time and may have information regarding the vehicle involved.

Police have released CCTV footage of the incident and are seeking information about the incident and the vehicle.
