Police investigate Maidstone shooting

Police are investigating after a Braybrook man was shot in the upper body in Maidstone on Thursday afternoon.

Police said it is understood a number of people attended the Omar Street address to threaten the occupant of the house about 4.30pm on June 6. A scuffle ensued and the firearm was discharged.

A 35-year-old Braybrook man self-presented to a nearby hospital a short time later with non-life threatening injuries.

A number of other occupants inside the property at the time were not physically injured during the incident, according to police.

Four people were arrested at the scene – a 34-year-old Footscray man, a 29-year-old Braybrook man, a 35-year-old Braybrook man and a 29-year-old Broadmeadows woman– all were released pending further inquiries.

Police believe the incident was targeted and the investigation remains ongoing.
