Police investigate stabbing in Altona North

Hobsons Bay Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance after a man was stabbed at a sporting venue in Altona North.

The incident occurred at a basketball match at the Doherty’s Road address just after 8.30pm on Sunday, November 28.

Police have been told a group of men attended the venue and a fight broke out between the men and match organisers.

A 22-year-old Werribee man sustained stab wounds to his upper body and was taken to hospital where he remains with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another Werribee man, also 22, was also treated on scene by paramedics.

Police believe there were a number of people at the venue at the time of the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
