Police looking for Gelato shop answers today

A silver Toyota Yaris similar to that seen at the scene of the fire on January 5.

An information caravan is being held in Williamstown on Wednesday, with police seeking information on the suspicious Capriccio Gelateria fire on January 5.

It is believed at least two men perceived to be of African appearance drove up to the store in a silver Toyota Yaris sedan, before smashing a front window and pouring accelerant inside.

They have then allegedly set the store alight before fleeing the area in the Yaris.

The store and the apartment above sustained significant damage during the fire, however no one was injured.

Police are treating the incident as a targeted attack.

At this time police do not believe it is linked to two fires at a different ice cream shop in Williamstown in November last year.

An information caravan will be set up on Nelson Place, near the intersection of Cole Street, between 3-7pm on Wednesday, January 17.

Anyone with information about the fire or any suspicious activity that may be linked to it, is urged to go to the caravan and speak with police.

Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
