Seven men have been arrested and charged as part of a police investigation into the alleged commercial cultivation of cannabis across the west.
Altona North Divisional Response Unit detectives have nabbed the men in recent weeks after a number of warrants were executed in the western suburbs.
A large quantity of cannabis was also seized during the raids.
Six Point Cook men were each charged with cultivation of commercial quantity of a drug of dependence, and a seventh man, whose address is unknown, was charged with cultivation of commercial quantity of a drug of dependence.
All have been remanded to appear in court at a later date.
Detective Inspector Steven Cooper of said police relied on the public’s help to minimise the harm caused to the community by drugs.
“Results achieved during this operation are a demonstration of the commitment Victoria Police has toward ensuring our community is safe and free from the effects of illicit drugs and ensuring those engaged in the cultivation of illicit drugs are brought to justice,” he said.
