Altona Police have appealed for assistance to identify a man they believe will be able to help them with their investigation into two incidents at a bottle shop on Altona earlier this month.
Police have alleged a man attended the bottle shop on Civic Parade at about 5.25pm on Wednesday, October 5.
Police said once inside the store, the man asked to exchange an e-cigarette before arguing with the female attendant.
He then went behind the counter and attempted to push the attendant out of the way and take an e-cigarette.
The female attendant managed to fend the male off and he left the store empty handed.
Police have alleged investigators believe the same man returned to the store on Sunday, October 9 at about 5.50pm.
There was an altercation with the same attendant and she was hit with a metal pole.
The man left the store and was last seen on Civic Parade.
