Maribyrnong Police are urging patrons to exercise safety on public transport now that more people are commuting.

On the Maribyrnong Police Service Eyewatch Facebook page, police called for commuters to exercise caution with their belongings.

The post stated patrons should make sure they carry their bag in front of their body, not leave personal belongings like shopping bags or backpacks unattended at their feet and keep their mobile phone in a secure place close to themselves.

The post directed patrons to submit lost property queries to lost.found@metrotrains.com.au or call (03) 9610 7512 between 9am – 5pm or V/Line on 03 9619 2588 from 6am to 10pm. After hours, patrons can call 1800 800 007.

If items have been stolen, patrons should report to police by calling 000 (if urgent), talking to member at a police station or a Protective Services Officer (PSO) on duty at a designated area. People can also call the Police Assistance Line on 131444 or use the Online Reporting on the Victoria Police home page.
