Hobsons Bay council has partnered with Big Group Hug to host a much needed pop up donation day on Saturday, June 17, from 9am to 2pm.
The pop-up store will be located at the Hobsons Bay council operations centre at Sugargum Drive in Altona, enabling residents to easily donate kids’ gear to vulnerable families.
On this special donation day, locals can donate pre-loved children’s items to Big Group Hug, a not-for-profit organisation helping families in financial crisis.
All donations will be distributed to families in need across greater Melbourne. Figures show in Australia one in six children are living in poverty.
All new and pre-loved kids’ hardware and clothing for newborns and up to 16 years of age will be accepted.
Accepted items include, but are not limited to prams and strollers, car seats (less than eight years since manufacture; there should be a sticker on the base), clothing for children aged 0-16, and cots (less than 10 years since manufacture with all parts and screws, with mattress if possible).
Staff are also accepting e-waste, containing toxic and hazardous materials, which cannot go in the kerbside bins.
E-waste has valuable resources and materials that can be reused and made into new products.
