Public toilets planned

More public toilets are on the way for Maribyrnong, with council looking for appropriate locations throughout the municipality.

Responding to community feedback calling for more public toilets across Maribyrnong, council has announced that is looking to identify ten new locations where additional amenities can be established.

Some of these 10 new locations could also host changing places facilities.

Changing places are larger than standard accessible toilets and have extra features such as a height adjustable adult change tables, tracking hoist systems and more space to meet the needs of people with disability and their carers.

Maribyrnong’s first changing places facility is currently being constructed at Yarraville Gardens.

Since the adoption of council’s Public Toilet Plan in 2019, 10 new public toilet facilities have been delivered or are in the process of being delivered in Maribyrnong.

New public toilets have already been established at Footscray Wharf, Seddon Village, Cruickshank Park in Yarraville and Hansen Reserve in West Footscray.

Toilets at Yarraville Gardens and Cranwell Park in Braybrook will be finished later this year.

Quarry Park in Footscray and Dobson and Johnson reserves in West Footscray, are among the locations were public toilets are either planned or are being considered.
