Rainbow flags fly for equality

Flags were flying in colourful solidarity on Monday as communities joined to recognise the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

IDAHOBIT promotes a prejudice-free world regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

The annual rainbow flag raising event symbolises support for reducing the barriers faced by GLBTIQ people in the community.

Hobsons Bay Council hosted a flag raising and morning tea at the Civic Centre on Monday morning while Maribyrnong Council followed suit with a flag raising and afternoon tea at the Town Hall on Monday afternoon.
