Connecting dance, circus arts and spoken word, Fresh Creative Entertainment’s new show ‘Relate’ is coming to the Footscray Church Arts Space for the 2022 Melbourne Fringe Festival.

The performance explores, uncovers and weaves together the intricacies of intertwined relationships across the connections between mothers, brothers, husbands, wives, lovers, substances and friends.

Fresh Creative Entertainment founder, writer and choreographer Chantelle Fava said the project is the result of a catharsis as she processed the end of a relationship intertwined with addiction and domestic abuse.

“As I was writing the piece, I started connecting with other people in my community and began exploring the struggles and the truths that really lie within many of our relationships,” she said.

Director Benji Leeks said he is hoping audience members can relate to at least one of the relationships featured within the project.

“Our worlds are made up of relationships,” he said.

“The ones with our friends, our addictions, our partners, our egos, the list goes on.

“‘Relate’ exposes and works through the messy emotions of these connections.”

Performances of ‘Relate’ will be held at the Footscray Church Arts Space at 7pm on Friday, October 7 and Saturday, October 8, as well as a matinee performance at 2pm on Sunday, October 9.
