Yarraville financial advisor Endurance Financial has received two national business awards for their achievements.
The business received the Financial Services Champion award at the 2022 Australian Small Business Champion Awards on Friday, September 2.
Director Amanda Thompson said she used her acceptance speech to highlight the fact that more than 50 per cent of women in small business do not pay themselves a regular wage.
“In my acceptance speech, I dedicated the award to all of the women that do pay themselves a wage and promised those who don’t that we will continue to educate and empower them in the area of financial literacy so they can move forward with successes in their own businesses,” she said.
“I also called out the organisers for the lack of female representation of the presenters.”
Ms Thompson said a number of politicians and the event’s MC Peter Overton praised her for the speech.
Endurance Financial also received the gold Financial Services award at the recent 2022 AusMumpreneur Awards.
A single mum of two girls, Ms Thompson said she knew first-hand the importance for women across Melbourne’s west to stay financially aware.
“There’s still a big gap in financial literacy,” she said.
With women over the age of 55 at a high risk of experiencing homelessness, Ms Thompson said it was important for women to prepare for their financial futures now.
“You can’t leave it until tomorrow,” she said.
