Residents in the west warned to prepare for public transport disruptions due to COVID

Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay residents are being warned to prepare for public transport disruptions over the coming weeks as COVID-19 causes staff shortages across the network.

In an alert issued on Tuesday, the Department of Transport said due to a large number of staff who are currently isolating, some services may be disrupted over the next few weeks as it works to balance timetable requirements with staff availability.

It is advised passengers should allow for extra travel time.

The department said it has installed more than 500 hand sanitisers across the network, and continues to ensure that door handles, myki touch points and handrails are regularly cleaned on trains, trams and buses, stations and stops every night.
