People in need will be the beneficiaries of an event where people can drop off goods they no longer want.
Hobsons Bay council is this month hosting the ’Pass it On – Reusables Drop-off Day’ in the Toyota carpark at Altona North.
All goods will be donated to local charities, who will be at the event to help ensure items are effectively redistributed.
Items in good, reusable and working condition are being sought in the categories of dressmaking, DIY, electrical (up to 10 years old), furniture, gardening, kitchen, leisure and white goods.
Hobsons Bay mayor Jonathon Marsden said the event was also a sustainable way to pass on unwanted goods.
“Reducing our carbon footprint and improving our recycling capacity is a big journey, made up of lots of little steps,“ he said.
“This is a fantastic small step we can all make together in reducing our impact on the environment and ensuring good quality items find a second home.
“I think during recent lockdowns we’ve all felt the walls of our houses close in on us.
“It’s really stressed the value of decluttering our home of all the things we don’t use anymore.
“Events like ’Pass it On’ are a brilliant way to find a good home for the teens’ old bikes, the old computer, vacuum or musical instrument, and create a little extra valuable space at home.“
Pass it On – Reusables Drop-off Day runs from 8am-1pm on Saturday, March 13 at gate 4 of the Toyota carpark, Grieve Parade, Altona North.
