Maribyrnong Aquatic Centre (MAC) has reopened to the public newly renovated and refurbished.
The centre received a $1.3 million makeover which saw the change rooms fully renovated and the main entrance foyer revamped.
The change rooms will now feature new fixtures, tiling fittings and a new temperature specific air handling system.
The entry foyer and centre access systems were also re-designed to enhance visibility to the pools and gym and to create a more welcoming customer experience.
The redesign will also now allow visitors to access the El Toucan café and retail area without requiring payment.
Construction is also set to begin next month on the recently announced $8 million water-slide park and splash pool, which is jointly funded by the State Government.
Mayor Cr Anthony Tran said that MAC continues to be a staple recreational hub for locals.
“The modern, upgraded facilities will further enhance their experience and allow them to make full use of the space. It will also allow for the seamless integration of the new Waterslide and Splash Park, once completed,” he said.
Prior to COVID-19, MAC received over 3,000 visits per day.
