Locals have the chance to join Bayside P-12 College in its brand new production of Robin Hood.

Performing arts director Effie Hatzikosmidis, also known as ‘Madame Hatz’ has asked the community to join the school on a ‘legendary journey through Sherwood Forest’.

“We create the musicals around the kids because we are at the mercy of the talent in front of us,” she said.

“This year we had a big boy group. Based on how many potential actors we had, we thought Robin Hood would be good because of those strong mateships.”

Madame Hatz said the teaching team has given students creative control over the production.

“We want to create an organic experience with the kids by letting them shape their characters and the storyline.

“We also give them the opportunity to choreograph their own dances, we find that this gives them ownership over the experience, and it becomes a collaborative project.”

The play will feature 60 students actors as well as 10 student sin the band, all ranging from year 5-12.

Uniquely past students have also come back to help.

The show will run at the Altona Theatre from Wednesday, August 16 to Friday, August 18. Tickets: www.trybooking.com/CKAVE
