School races into good health

Pupils from St Mary’s Primary School in Williamstown recently took part in a jogathon to learn the benefits of exercise – with a special guest.

Hobsons Bay mayor Jonathon Marsden put on his running shoes to join the pupils and school principal Anthony Hockey.

The jogathon was sponsored by local businesses TreeHaus Williamstown and Kelly Sports.

Treehaus director and mental health practitioner Justine Brogna said walking, jogging or running in groups or with friends is a fun way to stay fit.

“The benefits of physical activity and fitness are far and wide for people of all ages, not only for the health of people’s bodies but also for their minds,” she said.

The event helped raise about $11,000 for the school building fund.
