Schools awarded thousands in funding

Five schools in Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay will receive thousands of dollars in funding through the School Upgrade Fund.

Five schools in Maribyrnong and Hobsons Bay set to receive funding from the federal government.

The five schools were among 1300 schools who will benefit from thousands of dollars in funding through the Schools Upgrade Fund.

The fund is said to provide schools across the country with $32 million in grants to upgrade school infrastructure and equipment.

The upgrades can include and aren’t limited to, new or improved outdoor learning areas, new or upgraded air conditioning, better ventilation as well as new tablets and laptops.

Altona Meadows Primary School was announced to receive $25,000 to fund installation and upgrades to their outdoor shade spaces and to refurbish their classrooms.

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Newport will receive $25,000 to fund repairs and maintenance works on their facilities.

Altona North Primary School will receive $25,000 to fund installation and upgrades to their outdoor shade spaces.

Schools also on the list are St Monica’s School in Footscray and Corpus Christi School in Kingsville.

The funding is part of a $250 million commitment to improve school infrastructure.

All schools across the country were invited to apply for the funding , applications and projects were then assessed by the Department of Education and selected based on need.
